It is worth noting that the annual growth of hardwood in the US exceeds the annual harvest by 229%. Also of note, wood is the most abundant renewable resource on the planet. What could be better than a beautiful floor that also helps preserve the world we live in?
Moon's has mill direct access to many species of woods, such as:
Most hardwood is available in different grades: Clear, Select, #1 Common and #2 Common.
Upon special request, hardwood can be rift cut or quarter sawn for a very straight grain effect.
Hardwood is available in a variety of widths from 1 ½” to 6”.
Moon's can provide and install unfinished hardwood on site. Solid ¾” nail-down wood requires a sub-floor of plywood or OSB to maintain the integrity of the installation.
If you prefer a stain, Moon's will apply Minwax stain samples directly to the floor for you to choose from. Our crews will mix whatever stains are necessary on your floor to achieve the shade you want then sand the floor to a smooth finish. Keep in mind; darker stains require an additional day of drying time.

Moon's can provide and install unfinished hardwood on site. Solid ¾” nail-down wood requires a sub-floor of plywood or OSB to maintain the integrity of the installation.
If you prefer a stain, Moon's will apply Minwax stain samples directly to the floor for you to choose from. Our crews will mix whatever stains are necessary on your floor to achieve the shade you want then sand the floor to a smooth finish. A coat of commercial grade polyurethane is applied for three consecutive days. A 24 hour dry time is required after the third coat. Moon's uses oil-base polyurethane unless you prefer a water-base finish. If you have questions regarding the fumes, VOC or drying time between oil-base and water-base; please call Moon's and our staff will be happy to answer your questions.
Moon's can also re-finish existing hardwood to restore its original beauty providing there is enough wood surface.
Moon's standard sanding equipment captures 95% of the dust. We now have two dustless systems available which can eliminate the dust altogether. These specialized vacuums are designed to accept hoses which are connected from the vacuum outside the home and attached to the commercial sanding equipment. By using this optional vacuuming process during sanding there is no need for cleaning the surrounding areas afterwards or for protecting adjoining rooms from dust. The air quality remains clean and there is no need to change air filters.
